About Me
Dr Madhup Pandey joined the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Nottingham, UK as Assistant Professor (Structural Engineering) in November 2022. Prior to this, Dr Pandey worked as Postdoctoral Fellow at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. His research interests include, but not limited to, cold-formed steel structures, fire and post-fire behaviour of metal structures, high strength steel (S900 and S960) tubular joints, strain concentration factor investigation, testing and design of steel structures, thin-walled steel structures, tubular members, welding, 3D printing and smart materials. Before entering the research domain, he worked as a Structural Engineer in SYSTRA MVA and Larsen & Toubro Limited in India from 2012 to 2014. His research outcomes have been published in top-tier SCI-indexed Q1 journals and peer-reviewed international conferences. As a principal and co-investigator, so far, Dr Pandey has secured various research funding.
Dr Pandey earned his Ph.D. degree in Structural Engineering from The University of Hong Kong in 2018 under the guidance of Ir Prof. Ben Young. He received his M.Sc. (Eng.) degree in Structural Engineering from The University of Hong Kong in 2015 with Distinction, where he was rewarded with the “Leung Ting Kui and Chow Che King Scholarship” for scoring the highest marks in the M.Sc. Structural Engineering programme (2014-15). He obtained his B.Eng. degree in Civil Engineering from the Jai Narain Vyas University (Formerly, University of Jodhpur; a state government-owned autonomous public university), India, in 2012 with First Class First Honours. He won the “University Gold Medal” and “Alumni Gold Medal” for securing the first position in the Department of Civil Engineering throughout the B.Eng. (Civil) programme. He was also the recipient of the renowned state-level “Bhamashah Award” for achieving the first position in the B.Eng.
